New Weekly Feature! Elements of Vintage Style...Zinc

After several requests from clients/customers/followers, I have decided to add a weekly feature to my blog.
Each week, I will highlight an element of vintage style decorating, providing you with ideas, tips and inspiration to help you add some vintage style to your space.

First up...ZINC!
Let it be known that I LOVE metal!
Silver and Grey tend to be my "go to" colors.
I am very in to contrasts when I decorate and zinc is almost always a contrast to whatever it is placed next to. It adds an element of rustic charm.
And the PATINA...
the PATINA that zinc gets is unmatched by anything else.

Check out the faux zinc finish on this desk. I'm lovin' it. Zinc shelves and boxes provide storage options. And that map! Maps are a little obsession of mine. We'll save those for another week.

This idea is sooo unique! I absolutley adore this! An old zinc hood/vent as a canopy! You can't get any more contrast than this. Ruffles (another of my loves!) and metal.

The faux zinc finish on the little chest of drawers accents the twin zinc beds. Love the white and grey together. There's that contrast thing again...leather, studded benches are a study in contrast against metal.

Zinc boxes are a must have in the vintage style space. These are great for extra storage. They can also be stacked and topped with architectural salvage pieces to create unique end/side tables.

This zinc topped buffet/server has so many possibilities. The drawers make it serviceable in just about any room. I can see it in a kitchen, dining area, study, media room or laundry room. Remove the the top piece
and you have the coolest kitchen island ever.

Ok...this is one that is probably not realistic. Truly romantic, but not realistic. I love the thought of a zinc bath tub but I'll bet it's cold against bare skin. The faux zinc finished walls here are amazing!

Zinc lined cupboards. Cupboards are always functional. Love the lace trim on the shelves...again with the contrast.

An old French zinc drying rack. Again...so many uses. Craft room (spools of thread/ribbon), mud room (think wet mittens hanging on this baby), drying herbs from the garden, a cool rack for reminders/notes.

Zinc baskets. I don't think these need any explanation.

The ulitmate vintage/industrial end/side tables. I see these next to a big, cushy slip covered, creme colored couch.

Mail, cell phones, ipods etc. Anything looks better when  it's stored in a vintage style zinc box.

Zinc and wood chest of drawers. I see this one in a small entry area to corral mail, gloves, keys etc.

Always a staple in my home...turquoise ball jars with...zinc lids. These provide beautiful color and storage.

Oh so YUMMY! Zinc colored sheers. These are fabulous. They look like liquid zinc!

The zinc top undustrial table. Lovin' this as a desk but could be equally as cool in the kitchen.
